Interested in learning or teaching Malay but not sure where to begin? Want to overcome the language barrier when volunteering with Seniors? Look no further, join the Eldercare Cluster for Jom Belajar Melayu 2026!
Jom Belajar Melayu is a programme targeted at improving communication skills between youths and non-English speaking seniors from 24 January to 27 February 2026. It consists of 2 lessons, 1 community service session and 1 community iftar where we will be breaking fast with Malay-speaking seniors.
The lessons will be held in person at NYC HQ from 2pm to 4pm on 24 January 2026 and 31 January 2026.
The community service session will be at PERTAPIS Senior Citizens Fellowship Home in the afternoon on 7 February 2026.
The Community Iftar will be held at Caritas Agape Village from 530pm to 830pm on 27 February 2026.
As a Volunteer Facilitator/Volunteer Leader we ask that you commit to at least one of the lesson dates to facilitate the lesson. Guiding materials will be provided.
As a Volunteer Befriender, we ask that you commit to attending the full duration of the programme.
