Micro-Job Taster: CHAT Youth Mental Health Career Explorer

This is a micro-job taster programme that offers young people a unique insider’s look into the work of youth mental health professionals at CHAT – Centre of Excellence for Youth Mental Health, Singapore’s first-stop youth mental health service for young people aged 16 to 30. 

Through guided learning and supervised experiential exposure, you will learn directly from experienced professionals and gain meaningful real-world insights into a career in youth mental health.

Who should attend?

Young people aged 18 to 30 who are:

• Exploring careers in healthcare, mental health, social services or applied sciences,
• Considering their next step after graduation, or
• Passionate about supporting the mental wellbeing of their peers and community,

No prior experience is required – just a willingness to learn and an interest in making a positive difference.

Your Learning Journey
To complete the programme, participants are expected to attend all four components:

1. Full-day Foundational Training (Saturday, 29 August 2026)
Build a foundation in youth mental health, effective helping skills and CHAT’s role within Singapore’s mental health landscape. 

2. Supervised Observation (2 days in Sept/Oct)
Observe and learn alongside CHAT professionals as they engage and support young people.

• Observation dates will be released during the foundational training session.
• Each observation day is limited to 2-4 participants to provide quality learning experience.
• Participants are expected to complete both observation days within 2 months of their training date. 
  
  For example, participants attending the 29 August training should complete both observation days by 29 October.

3. Clinical Review Observation (1-hour online)
Observe an online clinical review session to gain insight into how professionals collaboratively formulate cases, discuss care needs and make clinical decisions.

4. Learning Consolidation & Wrap-up (3 hours)
Join a facilitated group session to:

• Reflect on your learning journey and key takeaways;
• consolidate your understanding of youth mental health practice;

share feedback and ideas to help improve CHAT’s services for young people

Become a CHAT Ambassador

Upon successful completion of the programme, you’ll be invited to join the CHAT Ambassador Network.

As a CHAT Ambassador, you will continue your learning journey by supporting youth mental health initiatives, promoting mental health awareness, and contributing to projects that improve access to support for young people.

Before You Register
Please register only if you can commit to completing all programme components, including:

·         1 full-day training

·         2 days of supervised observation (to be completed within 2 months of the training date)

·         1 hour online clinical review observation

·         1 three-hour learning consolidation and wrap-up session
