About event
From Plastic Waste to New Possibilities
What happens to our plastic after we throw it away? And can waste actually become something useful?
The workshop begins with Paul, founder of Plastify, sharing his entrepreneurial journey – what inspired him to start a sustainability-focused social enterprise, the challenges of turning an idea into action, and how Plastify transforms plastic waste into meaningful new products.
Participants will then explore Singapore’s plastics and recycling landscape, learning how to identify different types of plastic, unpack common misconceptions about recycling, and discover how the circular economy can help tackle environmental challenges.
Then, it’s time to get hands-on. Working in groups, participants will sort, wash and shred plastic waste before learning how injection moulding can transform it into something new. Each participant will create their own recycled plastic product to take home. The workshop wraps up with a facilitated reflection on what participants have learned, what sustainability looks like in practice, and the different careers and opportunities emerging in the circular economy.
