About this programme

About This EMS Bootcamp

Step behind the scenes of Singapore’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and gain a first-hand glimpse into the world of frontline paramedics. From exploring the features of an ambulance and its life-saving equipment, to practising essential trauma care skills and responding to simulated emergency scenarios, you will be able to get a real sense of the daily responsibilities and realities of a frontline paramedic. Discover a meaningful career path through this SCDF EMS Bootcamp!

Programme Structure

The day begins with an icebreaker and context-setting activity, where participants engage with curated portfolio cards to identify what they hope to gain from the session. This is followed by an introduction to SCDF, including an opening address that provides participants with an overview of what EMS work entails on a day-to-day basis.

Following this, participants will engage in hands on activities. They start by exploring the features and equipment of an ambulance, before moving on to practising basic trauma care skills. The day culminates in a full EMS simulation where teams are given the opportunity to respond to a mock cardiac arrest scenario.

Woven into the middle of the day is a lunch session with paramedics, where participants are split into small groups for more personal and in-depth conversations with EMS professionals.

The programme concludes with a sharing on career pathways into EMS, covering training routes and opportunities for career development upon joining SCDF. Participants will then take part in a reflection activity, where they are invited to consider their key takeaways from the bootcamp.
