Career Compass: Meet-the-Expert Session
About this programme
Curious what it's actually like to build a career at the intersection of AI and your industry — without needing a computer science degree?
Career Compass: Meet-the-Expert is a series of interactive sessions where youths engage directly with industry professionals to talk about career journeys, job roles, and the soft skills that matter most in today's digital and AI-driven workplace.
This edition, AI 101: Breaking into the Machine, brings together two professionals who work with AI in very different fields, creative media and digital banking, for an honest, unscripted conversation about how they got to where they are, and what they wish they would have known earlier.
Hosted in a Human Library Panel format, you'll hear real career stories, ask questions directly, and walk away with a clearer sense of how to make informed choices about your own education and career path — especially where AI and community impact intersect.
This session is open to all Singapore-based youths and undergraduates, especially those entering the workforce or those who are just curious about how AI is reshaping careers outside of purely technical roles!
Meet the Speakers
Jayce Tham, Co-Founder, CreativesAtWork & DEAR.AI
Jayce co-founded CreativesAtWork, a freelancer-led creative agency connecting businesses with curated creative talent across media and content production, alongside DEAR.AI, which explores human-led AI innovation in how we create, communicate, and work. Her work sits at the intersection of creativity, media, and technology — helping businesses, creative entrepreneurs, freelancers, and organisations use AI to build future-ready capabilities and unlock new opportunities in the evolving creative economy.
Chen Yingkai, VP, Digital Finance, OCBC
Yingkai has over 15 years of experience managing digital banking platforms across payments, fraud prevention, and digital risk management, and is currently leading AI-enabled projects within the bank. Outside of work, he mentors non-technical adults — including small business owners — to use AI confidently in their daily lives and businesses, guided by the belief that AI should be accessible, ethical, and human-centred. He hopes to encourage youths to pair innovation with empathy and use technology as a force for good in their communities.
