Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
  • Do Sustainability Manager jobs in Singapore require them to be proficient in coding or programming?
They will have to be able to operate specific data management systems to track the sustainability data of particular projects. Outside of operating these systems, proficiency in coding or programming languages is not required but would be a plus.
  • Do Sustainability Managers need to know the legal repercussions of the projects they may be leading?
Sustainability Managers should know the laws and regulations regarding pollution and how to manage chemicals, hazardous materials and food in the workplace. However, this knowledge also comes with experience in the field.
  • Why do organisations need Sustainability Managers?
Some organisations need professional guidance when it comes to using resources that may harm the environment if overdone to a certain extent, especially anything that has to do with making products such as clothes and bags.

When mass-produced items are involved, it is up to the Sustainability Managers to ensure that the organisation does not break any laws about polluting the environment or misusing any chemicals.
  • Where can Sustainability Managers work?
They are commonly employed by medium to large-scale agricultural and food companies and manufacturers. Additionally, they may work for consulting firms, municipal, state, or federal governments, retail corporations, and environmental organisations.
  • Why do corporations and manufacturers need qualifications to be sustainable?
Creating strategies with sustainable development may be possible without Sustainability Managers keeping things in check. However, without a Sustainability Manager, it may limit the ability to see the bigger picture and hinder holistic thinking.

Nonetheless, it is essential to understand each topic area sufficiently to effectively manage associated risks and ensure appropriate consideration within company policy.
