    Entry Requirements
    • Depending on your qualifications, you may opt for different schemes and programmes that prepare you for a fulfilling career in teaching.
    • For A-level, polytechnic or IB diploma holders, these include the two-year Diploma in Education (DipEd) programme that trains you to teach either Art, Music, Physical Education or Mother Tongue Languages at the primary level.
    • The Bachelor of Arts/Science (Education) Teaching Scholars Programme equips you with an academic degree in arts or science-based subjects and qualifications to teach in primary or secondary schools.
    • For university graduates, the National Institute of Education (NIE) offers a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programme that equips you with the knowledge and skills required for a teaching career at the primary or secondary levels.

  • What is the MOE Sponsorship?
    Every year, MOE sponsors candidates to attend Teacher Education programmes at NIE, which means MOE pays all fees. 
  • What is the difference between MOE-sponsored students and full-fee-paying students?

    MOE-sponsored students must serve a bond with MOE, while full-fee paying students have the freedom to choose their employment. Full-fee-paying students will have to bear the full cost of studies, while MOE-sponsored students will have their fees paid by MOE.

  • Can Teachers choose the subjects they want to teach?
    It depends. For example, the grade level they teach and their qualifications can be factors that influence whether a Teacher can teach the subject they like. 
  • Is there a demand for Teacher jobs in Singapore?
    Of course. With the rising importance of education, there will also be a rise in the need for Teachers, especially with the rise in student population. 
  • What types of schools are Teachers assigned to?
    It depends on the Ministry's organisational requirements and vacancies available. Should Teachers be placed in levels outside their initial training, comprehensive training will ensure they are well-prepared for their new teaching responsibilities.
